Three teams of academics at the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) have secured a total of ₦113 million under the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) National Research Fund (NRF) to undertake groundbreaking research in healthcare and social development.

The research teams, led by Prof. Ibrahim Khalil Adam, Prof. Mustapha Umar Imam and Dr Usman Ibrahim, would conduct studies on breast cancer, development of vaccines for Dengue fever and impact of community-based interventions on widows and elderly persons.
Presenting the award letters on behalf of TETFund, the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Mohammed Isa Kida, commended the scholars for their exceptional scholarship.
He described their achievement as historic, noting that it was the first time the University has secured funding for three NRF proposals to conduct research simultaneously.
Kida stressed that “research grants are essential for advancing knowledge, strengthening institutional capacity and providing practical training and mentorship for junior academics and postgraduate students.”
He urged the research teams to ensure prudent management of the funds, encouraging other academics to pursue competitive research grants.
