Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has presented a cheque of N500,000 to Miss Ifebude Benson, the overall best candidate in the 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the National Examination Council (NECO).
The state’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, handed over the award on behalf of the governor to the recipient’s father, Mr. Ben Benson, during a ceremony on Sunday in Awka.
Speaking at the event, Chuma-Udeh emphasized that the award reflects Governor Soludo’s commitment to promoting academic excellence among Anambra students.
“The state government has made significant investments in education, aiming to bring it to global standards and equip Anambra students with the skills to compete with their peers worldwide,” she said.
Miss Ifebude, a native of Ndikelionwu in Orumba North Local Government Area, distinguished herself by scoring A1 in all nine subjects she sat for in the NECO examination. She is currently studying Medicine and Surgery at the University of Abuja.
Expressing his gratitude, her father, Mr. Benson, praised Governor Soludo for recognizing and rewarding academic excellence. He stated that the gesture would inspire his daughter to continue striving for greatness and serve as motivation for other students across the state.
