Cursory: The Defence Headquarters announced the successful rescue of abducted students from Kuriga, Kaduna State, along with other hostages, in operations conducted in Zamfara and Sokoto States. A total of 137 individuals, including the students, were rescued in Zamfara and will be handed over to the Kaduna State Government. Ongoing efforts to track down terrorists responsible for crimes were reaffirmed by the DHQ.


In a recent announcement, the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) revealed the successful rescue of abducted students from Kuriga in Kaduna State.
The daring operation, conducted through coordinated efforts between the military, local authorities, and government agencies, resulted in the liberation of the students.
According to Edward Buba, the Director of Defence Media Operations, a total of 137 individuals, comprising 76 females and 61 males, were rescued in Zamfara State.
These rescued individuals, including the abducted students, will be safely conveyed and handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further assistance and care.
In addition to the rescue in Kaduna State, troops also freed 16 pupils known as Almajiris, along with a woman held hostage in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
These hostages were promptly handed over to the Sokoto State Government, showcasing the armed forces’ dedication to safeguarding innocent lives and restoring peace in affected regions.
In his words
“Relatedly, it would be recalled that on March 21, troops equally rescued 16 pupils (Almajiris) with a woman taken hostage in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
“These hostages were handed over to the Sokoto State Government.
“These efforts demonstrate the armed forces resolve to finding other innocent hostages and track down the terrorists that perpetrated these crimes.
“These efforts would continue until other hostages are found and the terrorists arrested, tried, and brought to justice by Nigerian law.”
Furthermore, Mr Buba emphasized the ongoing efforts of the armed forces to track down terrorists responsible for various crimes, including the recent killing of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community, Delta State. He affirmed that justice awaits the perpetrators, underscoring the resolve of Nigerian law to hold them accountable for their actions.
“Troops are employing similar efforts to track down the culprits responsible for the killing of 18 soldiers in Okuama Community in Delta State.“Justiceawaitst the culprits, as they can not go unpunished,” he said.
