“I did not Panic” Man Shares how he quit UI to Nnamdi Azikiwe University, wins MTN Foundation Scholarship

A Nigerian man, Chiebuka Christopher has shared his inspiring story of how he persevered while pursuing his passion. According to his story, he left the University of Ibadan to follow his dream of a tech career at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, ultimately achieving academic excellence and winning multiple scholarships.

Despite excelling in mathematics during his first year at the University of Ibadan (UI), a young man decided to leave and start afresh at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK).

He shared that his desire to pursue a career in tech motivated him to retake the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) after being unable to switch programs at UI.

Chiebuka Christopher, a recipient of the MTN Foundation Scholarship, detailed his journey from having low self-esteem to overcoming challenges in a LinkedIn post.

He explained that after excelling academically at UI, his Head of Department refused to release him despite his request to switch to a tech-related field. Determined to follow his passion, Chiebuka retook the UTME and enrolled at UNIZIK to study mechanical engineering.

This decision proved to be life-changing as he excelled academically, securing multiple scholarships and eventually graduating as the best student in his department and faculty.

Chiebuka’s story has inspired many, with people like Olaoye Olasunkanmi and Paul Mbonu expressing their admiration for his perseverance. Others, like Fiona Young and Motunrayo Oluwatunmise Ogunsakin, shared how his story resonated with them and encouraged them to strive for excellence.

Chiebuka’s journey highlights the importance of pursuing one’s passion and the power of perseverance in overcoming obstacles.
