Keamogetswe Ramongane, a determined and exceptional South African scholar, has earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from the University of Johannesburg with a remarkable 36 distinctions.
Reflecting on his academic journey in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Keamogetswe shared that his passion for excellence started early. He graduated from high school in 2018 with stellar results—scoring 100% in Accounting and 97% in Mathematical Literacy—ranking among the top ten students in his school and securing second place in Quantile 2 nationwide.
In 2019, he joined the University of Johannesburg’s BCom Accounting Extended Program through the prestigious Orange Carpet Programme, a reward initiative that recognizes top-performing matriculants with outstanding Grade 11 and 12 results.
Inspired by the story of a student who achieved distinctions from high school to university, Ramongane set his sights high. His dedication paid off: in 2022, after four years of rigorous study, he graduated cum laude with distinctions in all 36 modules.
But his academic journey was far from over.
In 2023, Keamogetswe took a leap of faith, enrolling in the Bridging Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (BCTA) despite having no financial support. It was one of the most difficult periods of his life—financially, emotionally, and academically. He faced constant rejections and battled discouragement, yet he pressed on, funding his own studies with the dream of qualifying for the esteemed Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA).
By 2024, he had reached another milestone: qualifying for the Bachelor of Accounting Honours, which includes the CTA modules and a research project. However, financial challenges persisted, and the strain eventually took a toll. For the first time, the high-achieving scholar faced failure, having to write supplementary exams for nearly every module.
“I spent the holidays studying,” he recalled, “even through Christmas and New Year’s.” Yet, true to form, he did not give up.
In January 2025, Keamogetswe passed all his supplementary exams, completing his Honours degree—and impressively, ranking as the top student in the research component.
He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the friends, family, and supporters who stood by him, especially during the moments when he struggled to believe in himself. He also acknowledged those who helped him financially along the way.
For Keamogetswe Ramongane, this achievement is far more than a degree—it is a testament to resilience, faith, and relentless perseverance.
