Kaduna University Students to Sit For Their Semester Exams Despite Outstanding Fees

Students of the Kaduna State University has been permitted to write their semester examination despite outstanding school fees for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Students of Kaduna State University were permitted to write their semester examinations despite outstanding school fees for 2023/2024 academic session.

The university authority, disclosed this in a statement, where it noted the development followed a directive by the Governor Uba Sani, aimed at lessening the impact of the current economic hardship on the students.

This is coming after the previous government under the leadership of former Governor Nasir El-rufai, had in 2023 increased school fees by 100 per cent.

Several students of the University had voluntarily withdrawn their admission due to their inability to pay the new school fees, while those who decided to continue with their academic studies are finding it difficult to pay.

Following this, Governor Uba Sani had announced the downward review of fees payable in state-owned tertiary institutions.

The statement said: “The management wishes to notify both new and returning students for the 2023/2024 academic session that they can now write the forthcoming examinations irrespective of whether or not they have paid their school fees.

“This is in line with the visionary policy of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, geared towards mitigating the current economic challenges faced by students.”

The statement added that the university Bursar’s office is open for further information and inquiries regarding the temporary clearance policy.

“However, for those students wishing to pay their school fees, the payment channels remain unchanged,” it added.
