Cursory: A Popular Nigerian Actress has called for the scrapping of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Shares Her Story

It was reported earlier that eight corps members were recently kidnapped along a highway in Zamfara State. They were kidnapped on their way to Sokoto camp.
The news brought a major concern to Netizens which must have propelled, Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, to react sadly via Twitter.
She urged the government to “stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas.”
She wrote:
“When I served in the North, it was a very memorable experience. Travelling from Bauchi by road to the airport was safe & then flying to Lagos just with my NYSC ID card, which also got me rebate on my ticket. It’s time to SCRAP this idea since corpers can’t travel within this country without LET OR HINDRANCE! Stop putting the lives of young people at risk with moribund ideas. Security is a priority & needs to be sorted totally, not technically.“

Netizens reactions:
@ANI: Security of corp members are not guaranteed. If NYSC cannot have a means to provide jobs after service, then it’s useless. The money used on a corp member for allowance and others if given as business startup grant. 40 percentage of present unemployed youth will be reduced.
@Dr Flakky for Obi: I did my 3 weeks orientation in Taraba and it was an interesting experience, I still can’t believe I’ve lived in the North. Also spent a day is Yola touring around before getting my flight back home. Them no born me well to try that again with the insecurities everywhere
@Bitcoin Way: I think the NYSC is a distraction the government now uses to avoid employing a valuable workforce.
@IamEri`Oluwa: You can say that again. The ever growing young one. You reminded me of my last experience in the North. It’s so memorable that I can’t stop sharing it. A guy picked me and my friend at midnight and drove us home. I mean, a stranger. Northerners are such a loving people. These vampires that are destroying the North makes it such a bitter pill to swallow. It’s painful.
@oladele ikuesan: I and some other corpers traveling to akwa ibom from Lagos got to Portharcourt by mid night a lady traveling with us took us to her house then drove us to uyo and abak the next morning serving during my time was a wonderful experience with ur nysc uniform or ID card is a pass.
