Kogi State Polytechnic withdrew 229 students over poor academic performance after approving the 2025/2026 first semester results following a thorough verification process by its Academic Board.

The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic has approved the first semester results for the 2025/2026 academic session and withdrawn 229 students due to poor academic performance.
The decision was announced in a statement released on Thursday by the institution’s Acting Coordinator of Public Relations and Protocols, John Amos Onimisi, in Lokoja.
According to the statement, the resolution was reached during the Academic Board meeting held on May 12, 2026, under the leadership of the Rector, Professor Salihu Sanusi Avidime. The meeting was attended by principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and other members of the board, who discussed several academic issues affecting the institution.
Onimisi explained that the board approved the results after a thorough verification process carried out by the Academic Board Central Results Verification Committee. He said the committee carefully reviewed and authenticated submissions from different departments and schools to ensure fairness, accuracy, and compliance with the polytechnic’s academic regulations.
He added that the committee’s findings guided the board in reaching its final decisions on the results, while the rector commended members of the committee for their dedication, professionalism, and commitment to maintaining academic standards within the institution.
The board stated that the withdrawal of the affected students was necessary to protect academic excellence and preserve the credibility of certificates issued by the school. It also noted that the action aligns with the institution’s regulations and is intended to encourage discipline and stronger academic commitment among students.
