KWASU VC Condemns Students’ Misconduct on Social Media, Vows Disciplinary Action

KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, condemned students’ misconduct in viral social media videos, announced disciplinary actions, and urged all students to uphold the university’s reputation and strive for excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, Professor Shaykh Luqman Jimoh, has expressed strong disapproval of the inappropriate behavior displayed by some students in viral social media videos.

In the videos, the students, wearing the university’s matriculation gowns, acted in ways deemed unbefitting of higher institution students. In a letter addressed to the student body on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor revealed that the students involved have been identified and will face disciplinary action to serve as a deterrent to others.

“As a university, we are committed to upholding the excellence upon which KWASU was founded. We will not tolerate any attempts to trivialize the institution’s reputation or the hard work of many years,” he stated.

Professor Shaykh emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity and image of KWASU, describing the students’ actions as disrespectful to the dedication of lecturers and a ridicule of the university’s principles of excellence.

“KWASU is yours! Like thousands of graduates before you, you will carry her certificate into the world and achieve great things. The integrity of this institution is ours to protect,” he asserted.

The Vice-Chancellor urged students to avoid actions that could tarnish the university’s reputation and to take pride in their identity as KWASU students. He reminded them of the legacy of excellence established by alumni who have excelled globally.

“I once again encourage you to be law-abiding and strive to be the best version of yourselves. On our part, we will continue to provide all the support necessary to help you achieve your goals,” Professor Shaykh concluded.
