Ladoke Akintola University of Technology students protest planned relocation of departments

Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) staged a peaceful protest to oppose the Senate-approved relocation of the Anatomy and Physiology departments from the College of Health Sciences to the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences, demanding the decision be reversed.

Students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, have staged a peaceful protest over the university’s decision to relocate two academic departments.

The protest, which took place on Tuesday, followed plans by the university management to move the Departments of Anatomy and Physiology from the College of Health Sciences to the Faculty of Pure and Applied Sciences.

According to information obtained by Daily Post Nigeria, the decision was approved by the university’s Senate and communicated through an internal memo signed by Mrs. Olayinka Balogun and copied to the Vice-Chancellor. The memo announced that the relocation had already been approved and urged stakeholders to cooperate to ensure a smooth transition.

However, the affected students strongly opposed the move, describing it as unacceptable. They blocked the university’s main entrance, sang solidarity songs, and displayed placards demanding that the management reverse the decision.

The protesting students insisted they would continue their demonstration until the university rescinds the relocation plan.
