A viral video of a Nigerian classmates’ reunion sparked debate after it revealed that all attendees now live abroad, prompting mixed reactions about success, migration, and Nigeria’s ongoing challenges.

A reunion party of Nigerian men in their 50s has gone viral after a video revealed that none of them currently reside in Nigeria, sparking widespread conversation online.
In the now-trending clip, each alumnus—dressed in traditional agbada—introduced himself by name, profession, and country of residence, with all citing either Canada or the U.S. as home.
The video prompted mixed reactions across social media. While some praised the men for building successful lives abroad, others saw it as a reflection of Nigeria’s failing systems that continue to push citizens out of the country.
Some critics noted that the introductions felt like subtle boasts, using migration as a status symbol. Others expressed concern over the brain drain and the irony of people enjoying functional foreign systems while still supporting poor leadership back home.
