Landlord Surprises NYSC Corper with ₦2 Million Gift After One-Year Stay

A Nigerian woman revealed on TikTok that her landlord gifted her and fellow tenants ₦2 million each after their NYSC year, despite paying just ₦550,000 in rent, a gesture that went viral and sparked widespread reactions online.

A Nigerian woman has shared an incredible story of how she made her first million naira—thanks to the unexpected generosity of her landlord during her NYSC service year.

The revelation came through a TikTok post, where the ex-corper explained that she rented a self-contained apartment for ₦550,000 during her one-year service. To her amazement, when she and the other tenants were moving out at the end of the year, the landlord gave each of them ₦2 million.

Describing the landlord as kind and unusually generous, she encouraged other property owners to emulate his example.

“I made my first millions from my landlord. I was a corper and moved into a self-contained apartment. When I was leaving after NYSC, the landlord gave me and the other tenants ₦2 million each. My rent was just ₦550,000.”

Reflecting on the experience, she also expressed regret for not appreciating the gesture enough at the time:

“I feel like I didn’t thank him properly. There’s hardly anyone in Nigeria who would do that. I want to thank him for his kindness and generosity, and I hope other landlords learn from him.”

The story quickly went viral, sparking reactions on social media.

Some Reactions:

  • 1Mn:
“With all her piercings and nose rings, I doubt any landlord would have done that without gaining something from her.”
  • Fuse Koda:
“She made her first million? I need to move to Nigeria. With just 80K in the bank here, that’s like 10 million naira!”
  • Bashir:
“That’s her truth, but I don’t believe it. Isn’t she from Igala?”

A video interview from TikTok account @peoplequicktalk also highlighted the rare generosity:

“Her landlord gave her and another corper ₦2 million each to start life after NYSC, even though their rent was just ₦550,000. I was so shocked during the interview that I forgot my questions. Have you ever had a landlord this kind?”
