LAUTECH Mourns Six Final-Year Nursing Students Killed in Road Accident

Six final-year nursing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) were killed in a road accident while travelling to Ogbomoso for their final examinations, plunging the university community into mourning.

Six final-year nursing students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) have died in a tragic road accident while travelling for their final examinations.

The victims, all 500-level students in the university’s Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme, were on their way to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, when the crash occurred.

Reports indicate that one of the students was heavily pregnant at the time of the incident. Their bodies have been deposited at a mortuary, pending autopsy and further instructions from the authorities.

The students were said to be practising nurses who combined hospital duties with academic work, balancing professional responsibilities, family life, and the demands of their final year.

The incident has thrown the LAUTECH community into deep mourning, with classmates and colleagues expressing shock and grief over the sudden loss.

As of the time of filing this report, the management of the university had not released an official statement detailing the circumstances surrounding the accident.
