Location of Kidnapped Benin ASUU Zonal Coordinator Still Unknown

Professor Monday Igbafen, the Benin Zonal Coordinator of ASUU, was kidnapped on Saturday night in Ekpoma, and his whereabouts remain unknown as of Monday morning, with the police investigating the incident.

The whereabouts of Professor Monday Igbafen, the Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), remain unclear as of Monday morning, following his abduction at 9 p.m. on Saturday.

Igbafen, who previously served as the Chairman of ASUU at Ambrose Alli University (AAU) in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area, was kidnapped by armed assailants while driving into his residence in Ekpoma. He was in his ash-colored Toyota Highlander SUV, bearing the registration number ABJ 180 JQ.

According to reports gathered in Benin on Monday, the kidnappers fled the scene in Igbafen’s vehicle, taking him to an unknown location.

Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent Moses Yamu, informed reporters on Monday morning that he would contact the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ekpoma for further details regarding the incident.
