Man in Dilemma After Bagging N5m Salary Job in Nigeria and UK Student Visa

A Nigerian man faces a tough choice between pursuing studies in the UK with a student visa or accepting a N5 million per month job offer in Nigeria as a managing director.

A Nigerian man is facing a difficult decision between pursuing studies in the UK, for which he has a student visa, and accepting a lucrative job offer in Nigeria as a managing director with a monthly salary of N5 million.

Career consultant @king_kriyl shared the man’s predicament on TikTok after receiving his message. The man explained that he has been granted a UK student visa and is scheduled to start school in September, but he also received an offer to work in Nigeria as an MD with a substantial salary.

In his message, he asked for advice: “I have a UK student visa to resume by September this year and an employment letter to work here in Nigeria as an MD with a salary of 5m naira. Pls make me anonymous.”

Reactions poured in with varied opinions:

  • @adeolaogunleye8: “It depends on how secure the job is. If it’s very secure and you see yourself doing it for 10 years, take the job.”
  • @ayabasign: “Take the 5m job monthly in Nigeria, save 2m monthly, study online if possible, and apply for permanent residence from here.”
  • @Chidera: “Salary of 5 million monthly? Baba is really confused if that’s the case.”
  • @moyojerry1: “What’s the reason behind the study? If it’s just to leave the country, take the 5m job; you can make connections later. If it’s for a certificate, that’s different.”
  • @TGSWANKY: “Omo, take the job in Nigeria if he’s sure of the 5m salary.”
  • @Mide_shabs: “Oga, take your 5m monthly job. Certainty is better than uncertainty.”
  • @soneye funmilola: “I wouldn’t advise anyone to come here on a student visa, not with these bipolar laws.”
