Caleb Okpala, a talented young Nigerian, has triumphed over negativity and skepticism to secure four full scholarships to prestigious universities in the United States.
Despite being told by an acquaintance that he wasn’t good enough, Caleb’s hard work and perseverance paid off, earning him a place in an Ivy League institution.
Caleb completed his bachelor’s degree in Geology at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources in Delta, Nigeria. He received three fully funded scholarships and the Erasmus Mundus Scholarship to pursue his postgraduate studies in the United States.
In a heartfelt post on LinkedIn, Caleb shared that his achievements were the result of answered prayers and determination. Reflecting on his journey, he expressed amazement at how far he had come, especially considering the negative predictions made about him in the past.
Caleb went further to state that he was awarded multiple scholarships despite not earning his bachelor’s degree with first class or taking the Graduate Record Examinations, Test of English as a Foreign Language, or paying an application fee.
With the scholarship, he enrolled for a master’s degree in Earth Science at Dartmouth College, one of the Ivy League universities, this fall in the United States.
His post reads:
From one day to day one.
It gives me great joy to announce that I will be starting my MSc in Earth Sciences at Dartmouth College one of the Ivy League universities, this fall in USA. This came with a full scholarship. My research will focus on remote mapping of past climate using satellite imagery and cosmogenic nuclide dating on glaciers.
God has been kind to me. Thankful to the prayers from Pastor Kumuyi during the Impact Academy. Baba said “I will be the best thing that ever happened to my family”.
Boom, God gave me 3 fully funded scholarship in USA and one Erasmus Mundus scholarship. All these coming while someone told me “I’m too useless and nobody can invest in me” “I am a failure and can’t go far in life”. Lol, God said “NO”. He had greater plans for me.
No FIRST CLASS, No GRE, NO TOEFL, NO APPLICATION FEE.
I am grateful to certain people who made this journey a reality. Specifically, my appreciation goes to Joel, Joy Mbadugha, Abiokpoyanam (Abby) Batubo, Seto C. , and everyone who assisted me. Thanks for your venerated support.
Truly, God is faithful. Today, I’m grateful to God for this journey. Cheers to a new beginning and many great feat.
Let the great journey begin 😊
