Mother Rejects School’s Disclaimer on Child Safety Responsibility

A mother’s refusal to sign a school-issued disclaimer absolving the institution of responsibility for her child’s safety has gone viral, sparking public outrage and raising concerns about school accountability in Nigeria.

A concerned mother has gone viral after refusing to sign an undertaking issued by her child’s school that absolves the institution of responsibility for the child’s safety.

In a trending video, the woman expressed outrage over a new policy introduced by the school, which stated that while the school would “try” to look after pupils, it would not be held liable for any incidents affecting a child’s safety.

“I don’t understand,” she said in Pidgin English. “I put my child in your care, and you’re telling me you won’t be responsible for his life?”

The video sparked widespread debate online, with many users supporting the mother’s stance.

One user wrote, “This is outrageous! Schools cannot just wash their hands off responsibility.”
Another added, “If they can’t guarantee accountability, why should parents trust them with their kids?”

The incident has raised serious questions about school accountability and child safety in Nigerian schools.
