The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) is mourning the death of Ruth Obadon Otabor, an Auchi Polytechnic student and mother of two who died after a road accident, pledging scholarships for her children, plans to honor her memory, and a renewed call for justice and safer roads.

The National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) has expressed profound sorrow over the untimely death of Ruth Obadon Otabor, a mother of two and student at Auchi Polytechnic. She succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a road accident involving a cement truck and later died at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos.
Eshiofune Paul Oghayan, NAPS President, described her passing as a poignant reflection of the ongoing risks students face on Nigerian roads. Despite swift medical intervention, Otabor tragically did not survive.
In response, NAPS has arranged support for her family and announced that her two children will receive full scholarships—from primary through tertiary education. Additionally, Auchi Polytechnic plans to immortalize her memory in the institution.
Oghayan emphasized that though nothing can replace her life, her legacy will strengthen NAPS’s resolve to demand justice, accountability, and safer roads. He also called on students to remain calm while reiterating the association’s commitment to pursue reforms and justice in her name.
