Urgent Directive Issued by Education Ministry
The order was issued on Friday through a circular signed by Binta Abdulkadir, Director of Senior Secondary Education at the Federal Ministry of Education.
According to the document, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, approved the temporary shutdown as a preventive measure to avoid further attacks on learning institutions located in high-risk communities.
Why the Schools Were Closed
The ministry explained that persistent security threats compelled the government to act swiftly.
Principals of all affected schools have been directed to enforce the closure immediately to safeguard students and staff.

Fresh Wave of Kidnappings Sparks Public Fear
The government’s decision follows a renewed surge in school kidnappings, including the abduction of students from St. Mary’s School in Papiri, Agwara LGA of Niger State.
Just days earlier, gunmen kidnapped 25 students in Maga community, Kebbi State.
In Kwara State, authorities shut down more than 50 schools on Thursday after bandits attacked communities near educational institutions.
The growing insecurity has intensified nationwide fear, with parents and communities calling for stronger protection for schools and urgent government intervention.
