Nigerian Graduate Under fire After claiming Nigeria is Better than UK, Narrates His Experience in UK

Cursory: A Nigerian educationist is under fire for suggesting that UK’s health system is worse than that of Nigeria. He made this statement while explaining why he could not participate in the just-conducted presidential election. A lot of Nigerians took to the comment section to counter his claim.

UK-based Nigerian educationist, Dipo Awojide warns against demonising Nigeria while narrating his experience of waiting for up to 48 hours to get a doctor in the UK.

The media personality took to Twitter to address his reasons for being mute during the 2023 elections which many expected input from him.

Clarifying his silence, Dipo Awojide revealed that he was sick and struggled to get a doctor to attend to his health needs in the UK.While discouraging demonising Nigeria,

he wrote in a tweet:

“Was sick after my birthday dinner. Fell down in the toilet because I was so weak. I banged my nose and passed out. Had to be revived. This picture was taken 10 days after. Twitter mob was waiting for me to comment on Nigerian politics. While I was fighting for my health ????????.

“I couldn’t see a GP in 48 hours. I would have been able to see a Doctor in Nigeria within 12 hours. Stop demonising Nigeria ????????. Things can be better in Nigeria ???????? but we are dealing with a lot in the UK ???????? as well ????,” he added.

@SheriffAkiode: Recently Took my dad to a primary health centre that’s less than 15minutes drive from our house. We were able to see doctors not just 1 but 2 within 30 minutes, carried out all the necessary test and needed treatment within 8 hours and everything cost us 19k..

@Dr_Softouch: Oh of course, you would have seen a doctor in Nigeria within 12 hours by leveraging your “connections” to skip the queue.Almost painted our health system like its better than UK????

@ose_okpamen: That you have money and privilege doesn’t mean everyone does. As a matter of fact there are more people who can’t afford to see a doctor in Lagos than those who can. Public health systems in Nigeria but esp Lagos is a humanitarian crisis. People die needlessly

@Araabmooney: Lol. Cos your case wasn’t an emergency, else you would have been attended to immediately

@okeyezealah: It is called “Triage”. It is the pattern in medical attention in any civilised country. That’s the standard. Those with very serious life threatening conditions are given priority in high patients situations.

@Anyaegbu: If you pay for it, you can see a private GP in a day. Why are you comparing a public system that is free (NHS) with a private system (Naija)?lu

@onyolusamson: Yes in some parts of the Nigeria public health facility if you are rich or know someone but as for the treatment is were you will understand it better. Private hospitals no problem so long you have your money.

@Otunba_Babyface: YOU CAN SEE A DOCTOR IN NIGERIA WITHIN 12 HOURS BECAUSE ONLY FEW PEOPLE CAN AFFORD TO SEE A DOCTOR IN NIGERIA COMPARE TO UK WHERE EVERYONE CAN AFFORD TO SEE A DOCTOR…

@Awapatriotic: Thanks my Dr, many Nigerians in UK are seeing Hell, unfortunately, the attitudes they brought from home will not allow them to say the truth, they keep on praising UK at the expense of Nigeria. Nigeria, my Country is a good place and we can do more if we are sincere.????☀️????

@LogicalySpeakn: Stop with the buffonry mate. Just stop it. Go back to the Nigeria na.

@dotman_dd: University nor dey naija?? Go pick up lecturing job there now.
