Nigerian Lady Removed from OAU in 2016 for Poor Performance Emerges Best Student, Bags Awards & 400k

A lady has taken to social media to celebrate her outstanding academic feats with a touching story of how she journeyed to success.

The lady by name Ibukunoluwa Areo, was withdrawn from the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), for poor performance in 2016. After this, she attempted to get back to school but was not successful.

She had however later found her way back and has finished outstandingly as best graduating student alongside winning awards and cash prize of N400,000.

She took to her LinkedIn to celebrate her academic milestone with beautiful photos from the convocation ceremony.

She said her journey to academic success was a tough one and not as sweet and easy as people would imagine.

She has by this written her name in gold in the history book of the Bowen University, Iwo graduating with a first-class degree and receiving several awards and cash prize of N400,000.

While recollecting her experience, she noted that aside from being withdrawn from, OAU in 2016 she wasn’t able to gain admission in 2017 and 2018 due to subject combination issues and low scores.

She however persevered and got into Bowen University, Iwo via direct entry where she has graduated in grand style.

Ibukunoluwa stated that she chose growth over mediocrity.

She has actually recorded a great feat as she graduated with a first-class honours degree in Economics; as the Best graduating student in her Program with a CGPA of 4.84.

She was as well the best graduating student in her College amd lastly, the 3rd overall best graduating student in the 2020/2021 set.

“In addition to my academic success, I served in various leadership capacities, the highest of which was being the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the school for 1 day,” she said.

Indeed failure is not enough reason to stop struggling and trying to make progress, rather it is a more reason while one should sit-up and try to do more. Her story is indeed inspiring. We wish her all the very best in life.
