Nigerian Law Graduate, Opadokun Catherine, Achieves 4.73 CGPA and Emerges Best Overall Student at EKSU

Opadokun Catherine, a Nigerian law graduate from Ekiti State University, earned a first-class degree with a remarkable 4.73 CGPA, emerging as the best graduating student in both her faculty and the entire university—an achievement that reflects years of discipline, resilience, and a deep commitment to excellence.

A brilliant young Nigerian, Opadokun Catherine, has graduated with flying colors from Ekiti State University (EKSU), earning a first-class Law degree (LLB) with an extraordinary cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.73 out of 5.00 — one of the highest ever recorded in the university’s Faculty of Law.

Her remarkable academic achievement earned her the Overall Best Graduating Student award, both in the Faculty of Law and the entire university.

Catherine’s path to excellence was anything but ordinary. Eight years ago, she began her tertiary education in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ilorin. However, in her second year, she made the bold decision to leave that path behind and pursue her true passion—Law.

She recounted a particularly challenging period of her journey, preparing for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination just two weeks after finishing her university exams. Despite the demands, she held firmly to the belief that “anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

In 2019, she was admitted to EKSU’s Faculty of Law, and from the outset, she embraced the opportunity with focus and determination. By the second semester of her 100 level, she had already achieved a 4.9 GPA. That success became a turning point—fueling her drive to aim even higher.

Throughout her time at EKSU, Catherine maintained a stellar academic record. By her 300 level, she had a CGPA of 4.8 and capped her final year with a perfect 5.0 GPA. Her journey was marked by consistent hard work, countless late nights, and an unwavering sense of purpose. Her dedication not only earned her academic distinction but also several prestigious awards recognizing her leadership, resilience, and commitment to excellence.

Beyond the accolades, Catherine’s story serves as a powerful reminder of the value of courage and persistence. She emphasized that true success often comes from daring to change direction when necessary and remaining disciplined despite the odds. Her ability to rise above her challenges is a testament to what focused determination can achieve.

Reflecting on her journey, Catherine encouraged others not to be limited by their circumstances. “Discipline and determination can take you to the place you desire,” she said. “Never let your roots determine your tomorrow. Today, we celebrate how I broke free from that limitation.”

She expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, her family, and friends for their unwavering support throughout her academic pursuit, acknowledging their role in helping her achieve this milestone.

As Catherine steps into the next chapter of her journey, her inspiring success story continues to resonate with young Nigerians and scholars across Africa—proving that with vision, hard work, and faith, excellence is truly attainable.
