A young Nigerian man has gained widespread attention online after sharing a touching tribute to an elderly white couple who funded his university education from 100 level to 400 level.
Known on TikTok as @son_of_ekun, he posted a video of a joyful WhatsApp video call with the couple, showcasing the close bond they share. In the clip, he humorously asked what they were having for lunch, and their reply — “Garbage Chido” — left him surprised. The husband later stepped away to prepare the meal, while the man continued chatting with the wife.
At one point, he told her:
“You are the luckiest woman on earth,”
and showed her a framed photo of her displayed proudly in his living room.
According to him, he has known the couple for eight years, and they’ve never missed sending him birthday gifts.
The caption on the video reads:
“They sponsored my education from 100 to 400💗. No birthday has passed without receiving a gift from you guys❤️💗. 8 years in the making ❤️. Thanks for all you do @Donna #Dotun and Grandpa Eugene.”
In a bold statement, he also criticized internet scammers, saying:
“If it’s your turn, scam them.”
The video, which has received over 100,000 likes, has sparked a variety of reactions across social media.
