Nigerian Man Earns First-Class Physics Degree After 6 Years and Wins Best Student Award

Abdulafeez Olaitan a vibrant Nigerian man has earned a first-class degree in Physics from the University of Lagos after six years, won the best-graduating student award, and received multiple scholarships and accolades for his academic and extracurricular achievements.

Abdulafeez Olaitan, a young Nigerian, has earned a first-class degree in Physics from the University of Lagos, completing his studies in six years instead of the typical four, and was honored as the best-graduating student in his department.

Olaitan shared his achievement on LinkedIn, expressing his satisfaction with finishing a challenging six-year journey. Despite the extended study period, his academic excellence was recognized with several awards, including the best-graduating student accolade.

In addition to his degree, Olaitan was named a RENEU Scholar at the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, University of Chicago. He was also nominated by the University of Lagos Vice-Chancellor to attend the 3rd Zenith Bank’s Tech Fair, receiving multiple scholarships such as the Kwara State Scholarship, Army Group Insurance Fund (AGIF) Scholarship, Abdulkabir Aliu Foundation Scholarship, and WELA Scholarship.

Olaitan’s accomplishments include being selected for the ARM Young Talent Program, where he earned an “A” grade and was recognized as “Scholar of the Year” and “Most Sought After Male” at his department’s event. He also led the university’s press club as editor-in-chief for three years and has been involved in literary and journalism projects, including working with Edugist and receiving nominations for the Pushcart Prize and the Rhysling Award.

Looking ahead, Olaitan is enthusiastic about future opportunities and continues to focus on his goals and contributions.
