Ambitious Second Class Graduate Celebrates As He bags Ph.D. Scholarship in US Varsity after several Rejections

Olajuyin Olaleye Ebenezer, a young Nigerian Graduate who has no Masters Degree has celebrated bagging a PhD Scholarship and moving out of Nigeria despite several hurdles.

Most Nigerians has proven to be persistent, brillaint and goal-driven. Olaleye Ebenezer has added his name to that list.

Olaleye’s higher education journey started in 2014 where he was admitted into Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) Ogbomoso Nigeria, to study Medical Labouratory Science.

The “Jesus Addict” as a calls himself, took his studies very seriosu and was able to graduate with a second class upper (2:1) in 2020.

Immediately after his graduation in 2020 he hoped of studying cancer diseases abroad. To him then, it was just dream.

He then started applying for a PhD position in world universities.

According to him, he sent 585 emails to professors requesting that they accept him.

While he got tons of rejections, his effort paid off after receiving a fully funded Phd scholarship at the University of Marine, United States.

The scholarship covers his tuition, health insurance and monthly stipend for upkeep.

His scholarship will also see him through his Masters degree and he is expected to complete his programe in 2027.

Sharing his story on LinkedIn, the Ekiti state boy wrote:

I am a young man a big dream,

I Graduated from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Ogbomoso Nigeria (Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science)……I have this big dream of studying cancer diseases abroad, so it all started in the year 2020!!!!

It was indeed a rough and a tough journey with massive rejections, I got 27 rejections in all but I chose not to give up, I kept applying, improving my CV, gained more molecular skills, connect with various scholars for guidance, I sent 584 emails to professors across the world requesting for a PhD position in there laboratory, then came the big news…..A fully funded PhD scholarship at the University of Maine United States of America

In the next few days I will officially start my first laboratory rotation at The Jackson Laboratory in bar harbor, Maine United States (My dream laboratory) .

My appreciation goes to God almighty for this favour and mercy, also to my dear highly esteem uncle Olumuyiwa Igbalajobi (Ph.D),He kept encouraging me, Uncle review my documents again and again, He never give up on me, thank you so much sir.
