A Nigerian man went viral after discovering his wife inflated their daughter’s ₦145K school fees to ₦480K, sparking online debates about trust, financial transparency, and deception in marriage.

A Nigerian man has sparked outrage and sympathy online after revealing in a viral video that his wife lied about their daughter’s school fees, collecting ₦480,000 from him but paying only ₦145,000 to the school—an act he discovered during a surprise visit when he inquired about their child’s academics.
In the emotional clip shared by user @AsakyGRN on X (formerly Twitter), the man warned other fathers against leaving school-related responsibilities solely to their wives. He recounted how his wife insisted on managing the enrollment, only for him to later find out she had massively inflated the amount.
“She told me school fees were ₦480K. I paid, thinking it was for my child’s education. I found out from the school that it’s only ₦145K. That’s why she never wanted me to go,” he said.
Suspicions of Misuse and Marital Distrust
The man added that his wife had been acquiring new clothes, claiming they were gifts from a friend abroad—further deepening his concerns about financial dishonesty and the overall trust in their marriage.
Distraught by the discovery, he said he had to park his car by the roadside to process the betrayal and questioned whether he could continue the relationship.
Mixed Online Reactions
The video has triggered intense debate online, with many sympathizing with the husband, while others advised caution, counseling, or a full marital review.

- @Mufty of Ilorin added: “Even a billionaire would feel pain in this situation. This isn’t something to joke about.”
- @Loud Life criticized: “Y’all ignore red flags, marry people you barely know, and then come here to complain when it falls apart.”
The incident has reignited conversations about transparency in marriages, especially regarding finances and parenting responsibilities.
