The Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano has Announced the NUC Accreditation of Five Academic Programmes.


The Vice-Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, is pleased to inform members of the University community and the general public that the National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted accreditation to five academic programmes of the University following the October/November 2025 accreditation exercise.
This development was conveyed in an official letter dated 7th April, 2026, with reference number NUC/ES/412/VOL.14/323, forwarded by the National Universities Commission to the University and signed by the Director of Accreditation, Engineer Abraham Chundusu, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, containing the results of the accreditation exercise conducted across various academic programmes.
According to the results released by the Commission, the following programmes were successfully accredited, each with an accreditation validity period of five (5) years:
Faculty of Social and Management Sciences:
M.Sc Accounting – Accredited (Valid for Five Years)
Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences:
B.Sc Physiology – Full Accreditation (Valid for Five Years)
Faculty of Computing:
B.Sc Information and Communication Technology – Full Accreditation (Valid for Five Years)
Faculty of Clinical Science:
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) – Full Accreditation (Valid for Five Years)
Faculty of Science:
B.Sc Physics – Full Accreditation (Valid for Five Years)
The accreditation status granted by the Commission reflects the University’s continued commitment to maintaining high academic standards, quality teaching, research excellence, and the provision of adequate human and material resources for effective programme delivery.
Professor Amina Salihi Bayero described the achievement as a significant milestone for the University, noting that the successful accreditation of the programmes is a proof to the collective efforts of the University Management, staff, students, Governing Council, and other stakeholders who continue to support the growth and development of the institution.
The Vice-Chancellor further assured members of the University community and the general public that the University will sustain its commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement in all its academic programmes in line with the standards of the National Universities Commission and global best practices.
