Her exceptional performance set a new record as the first student ever to accomplish this since the competition’s inception, surpassing five other students who were in the Group-B stage with her.
The Cowbellpedia Mathematics Television competition is an annual event hosted by Promasidor Nigeria Limited. Oluwatunmise made history by surpassing the previous record of 15 questions answered correctly in 60 seconds, which had been set by the winner of the senior category the year before.
In her phase of the competition, participants were tested on their speed and accuracy, challenged to answer as many questions as possible within a 60-second timeframe.
Oluwatunmise revealed that she dedicates four hours daily to rigorous mathematics practice, driven by her aspiration to claim the grand prize.
“I want to win. My parents want me to win, just like my school also wants me victorious. Winning the crown will be the greatest gift I want from God this year,” she said.
“Apart from the one million naira prize, the bragging right in my school and among my friends will be inestimable. I can’t wait for the glorious moment. I pray for God’s favour,” she added.
Despite not securing the grand prize, Oluwatunmise received a special recognition award for her victory in the Cowbellpedia 60 Seconds of Fame online contest.
Following her high school graduation, she proceeded to Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria, where she is currently pursuing a degree in Medicine and Surgery.
In addition to her academic pursuits, she takes on the role of a mathematics tutor for fellow students at her high school and serves as a student ambassador for the SMATH (Scholars Mathematics and Science) Initiative, which focuses on primary and junior secondary school students.
