“Only First-Class Students are allowed into our convocation hall” — UI tell Students

The University of Ibadan prohibits graduates who do not have first-class honors from attending the 2021 graduation ceremony in person.

The university also forbids top graduates and their parents to attend graduation ceremonies on campus in person.

Instead, they were asked to attend the convening ceremony online.

A notice issued by the university stated that the meeting will be held from November 15th to 17th.

The university’s public relations officer Olatunji Oladejo said that the decision was made to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

He said he won the award Participants will also be allowed to enter the lobby.

A part of the circular reads:

“Attendance at the International Conference Centre is open to First Class Honours graduands and recipients of prizes and awards only.

During this period, parents and visitors are not allowed to enter the campus, nor will there be any form of parties or social gatherings.

“All graduands are to comply with COVID-19 protocols, including wearing of face masks, physical distancing and use of hand sanitiser.

“All graduands are expected to pay the levies as stipulated whether or not they attend the convocation ceremonies as these will be required at the point of collection of the certificate.”.
