OOU Management Releases Notice on Mode of Dressing for 32nd and 33rd Convocation ceremonies.

It is important for prospective Graduands who are desirous of participating in the Convocation Ceremonies to be guided on the proper mode of wearing academic robes and other related matters. Beside seeking guidance from their respective Faculties, all Graduands are required to wear their robes (i.e., their caps and gowns) correctly and shall adhere to the appropriate dress code for convocation ceremonies.
A. Academic Robes:
- Ensure that you wear your cap and gown properly: The cap should be worn flat on the head and parallel to the ground, without tilting it sideways.
- Make sure the cap is positioned one inch above the eyebrows.
- The pointed part of the cap should face the front.
- The position of the tercel on the cap should be on the right side until when you are conferred with the degree and then appropriately turn to the left when you have been instructed to do so. The turning of the tercel from right to left in particular is not only symbolic but important because this indicates the earning of a degree!
- It is strictly to decorate your cap or gown in any way, as this would be considered an abuse of the attire.
B. Hairstyles
- Female graduands should be mindful of their hairstyles as certain hairstyles may not be compatible with the use of the academic cap. It is thus important to give consideration for hair styles that are simple, and not full or long in order to make the cap sit comfortably on their heads without falling off.
- Not doing a moderate hairstyle can make you look weird with your cap.
C. Make-up
- If female graduands choose to wear makeup, it should not be excessive but be kept minimal and complementary to their hairstyles and overall appearance.
