Dr. Nsikak Akpan, a lecturer at Foreign Links College of Health Technology in Moro, Osun State, has reached the 100-hour mark in his attempt to set a new world record for the longest lecture marathon, aiming for a total of 150 hours.
On September 20, PUNCH Online reported that Akpan had announced his official approval from the Guinness World Records to pursue the 150-hour marathon, with the reference number: 240427100506lml. He also shared that the current record for the longest lecture, set by Indian Prof. Arvin Mishra, stands at 139 hours, 52 minutes, and 42 seconds, achieved in 2014.
The lecture, which began on Monday at the college campus, is centered around the theme, “Relationships between man’s environment and health,” and is being attended by students of the college.
At around 12:30 pm on Friday, Akpan, delivering a lecture on mental health, reached his 100-hour milestone. He elaborated on the topic, emphasizing the connection between mental health and various factors, especially one’s environmental and spiritual well-being. He noted that certain health conditions and work environments can significantly impact mental health.
Each lecture session lasts four hours, followed by a 20-minute break before Akpan resumes.
