Outrage as Viral Video Exposes Student Chained and Bullied in Abuja School

A viral video of a student, Imtiyas, being chained and bullied by schoolmates at Beautiful Beginning Academy, Abuja, has sparked public outrage, prompting investigations by NAPTIP and the police, with calls for justice and accountability.

A disturbing case of bullying at Beautiful Beginning Academy, Zone E Legislative Quarters, Apo, Abuja, has sparked public outrage after a viral video showed a male student, identified as Imtiyas, being chained and humiliated by some SS3 boys in the school.

The incident, reported on Monday, December 9, reveals that Imtiyas, a boarding student, had been subjected to repeated bullying. In the video shared on social media, Imtiyas is seen squatting while being ordered to lie down by his tormentors. According to reports, his mother was unaware of the abuse until a sibling visiting the school discovered his frail condition, prompting immediate medical attention.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) condemned the act as “unacceptable” and urged the victim’s guardian to contact them. Similarly, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation into the matter, with Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Josephine Adeh confirming that officers are working on the case.

Outraged Nigerians on social media have called for justice, with many condemning the school’s failure to address bullying and demanding accountability. Internet users urged authorities to prosecute those involved and questioned the parenting and oversight that allowed such behavior.

As the video garners widespread attention, activists and citizens alike have vowed to ensure justice for Imtiyas and prevent similar incidents in schools.
