An 18-year-old African-American student named Aniya Richardson has secured an impressive $2.1 million in scholarship offers from various universities following her graduation from West Cabarrus High School in the United States.
Aniya graduated with an exceptional 4.20 Cumulative Grade Point Average. Hailing from North Carolina, she received acceptance letters from 28 universities across the United States, which collectively presented her with scholarship offers exceeding $2.1 million.
Among the institutions that accepted her are Howard University, University of North Carolina, Clemson University, Spelman College, and Tuskegee University.
She is presently awaiting decisions from a few more colleges before making her final decision on where to enroll.
Aniya’s mother, Candace Stratford described her as one who had always been exceptional since she was little. “I don’t think there is one thing that I can name that she tried to do that she was not really good at,” Stratford said.
Aside from Aniya’s academic excellence, she is a self-taught musician who loves to play the guitar. “I started teaching myself guitar. I did violin my freshman year and then I tried to learn drums this year and I’m kind of getting the hang of it,” she said.
During her free time when she’s not playing the guitar, Aniya dedicates herself to her studies, which has contributed to her impressive 4.20 cumulative grade point average.
Additionally, she was highly involved in extracurricular activities during her time at West Cabarrus High School.
She participated in the school’s marching band, was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, and also contributed to the Future Business Leaders of America group.
Aniya expressed her aspiration to work as a therapist specializing in providing counseling for individuals facing cancer on their own.
However, at the moment, she is focused on being a source of inspiration for others, particularly her family members, to realize their own potential and believe that they can achieve their goals as well.
“I want to just take that pathway and have them follow in my footsteps so they could be successful as well,” she said.
