President Tinubu has Appointed Dr. Agboola as Pioneer Librarian of Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences (FUMMS), Abeokuta


In a significant step towards kickstarting the newly established Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences (FUMMS), Abeokuta, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR has appointed Dr. Odunola Agboola as the institution’s pioneer University Librarian.
Dr. Agboola, an esteemed Academic and Librarian from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), was appointed in recognition of her exceptional qualifications, extensive professional experience, and remarkable contributions to the advancement of Library and Information Sciences.
At FUNAAB, Dr. Agboola played a pivotal role in modernising Library Services, integrating digital technology into academic resource management, and enhancing research accessibility for students and faculty. Her expertise in Library Administration and Digital Information Management has significantly contributed to the development of higher education in Nigeria.
Congratulating Dr. Agboola on her new role, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, described her appointment as well-deserved. He commended her dedication to academic excellence and innovative library management, expressing confidence that she would bring her wealth of experience to the new role and contribute to the university’s growth.
Her appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to building a world-class medical institution anchored on robust research, knowledge management, and academic excellence. As the pioneer University Librarian, Dr. Agboola is expected to lead the development of a state-of-the-art medical library that would support research, education, and innovation in medical sciences.
The Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta, was recently established by the Federal Government to expand access to specialised medical education and enhance healthcare research in Nigeria. With the appointment of key Principal Officers, including Dr. Agboola, the university is set to commence full academic and administrative operations.
Her appointment is widely regarded as a strategic move to lay a strong academic foundation for the new university, ensuring it becomes a hub for excellence in medical education and research.
