Redeemer’s University has secured the National Universities Commission (NUC) Approval for MBBS, Other Medical, Engineering and PG Programmes .


Redeemer’s University has recorded a defining milestone in its academic evolution with the approval of the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence the Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS), alongside a suite of strategically significant academic programmes.
This achievement signals a critical expansion of the university’s scholarly frontiers and reinforces its growing stature within Nigeria’s higher education landscape.
Redeemer’s University has over 12 years of distinguished contributions to global public health, during which the university has emerged as a leading continental powerhouse in the genomics of infectious diseases. Redeemer’s University has earned multiple international endorsements from globally recognised health bodies, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), African Centre for Disease Control (Africa CDC), United States Centre for Disease Control (US CDC), JWARG, among others.
The NUC approval follows a rigorous resource verification exercise recently conducted on the university campus.
In an official communication addressed to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shadrach Olufemi Akindele, and signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, dated June 17, 2026, NUC confirmed the approval of the full-time mode of the following programmes, effective from the 2026/2027 academic session:
- MBBS Medicine and Surgery
- DBS Dental Surgery
- Pharm D. Doctor of Pharmacy
- BSc Pharmacology and Therapeutics
- DPT Doctor of Physiotherapy
- B.Eng Mechatronic Engineering
Postgraduate Programmes:
- PGD, MSc, MPhil and PhD Architecture
- PGD, MSc, MPhil and PhD Human Physiology
- PGD, MSc, MPhil and PhD Physiotherapy
- MSc, MPhil and PhD Human Anatomy
Reacting to the development, Vice-Chancellor Professor Akindele expressed profound gratitude, stating, “First and foremost, all the glory goes to God for making this possible. We want to thank the Visitor to the University, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, for his constant support throughout this journey.
“We also appreciate the proprietors of the university, the Board of Trustees, Council members, and our staff, as well as our beloved parents and students for their roles in making this feat a reality.”
He further emphasised: “This is certainly not our final destination. We have set our sights on becoming the foremost training institution in Nigeria, not only in medicine but also across all faculties at Redeemer’s University. When it comes to quality education with godly character, parents will have every reason to choose Redeemer’s University.”
