Six students of Federal University Lokoja and their driver were killed when a trailer lost its brakes and rammed into their shuttle bus near the university’s permanent site in Felele, Lokoja.


Six students of the Federal University, Lokoja, and their shuttle bus driver lost their lives on Monday when a trailer carrying wood and palm oil lost its brakes and rammed into their bus near the university’s permanent site in Felele, Lokoja.
Eyewitnesses reported that the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m., crushing the fully loaded university shuttle. Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) arrived at the scene to rescue trapped victims.
FRSC State Sector Commander Samuel Oyedeji, who led the rescue team, stated that the exact death toll was yet to be confirmed, but injured victims had been taken to the Federal Teaching Hospital and Kogi State Specialist Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were moved to the mortuary for identification.
