A young Nigerian man, Jimoh John Yakubu, whose story went viral in 2020 for making pap so he could sponsor himself in school has spoken about his popularity and business since then.


In an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, the 22-year-old man who finished his secondary school in 2015 said he learnt photography a bit.
He disclosed that he had to stop photography after two years because of his mother’s failing health and assist so that her business would not crumble.
Jimoh revealed that pap-making is a very lucrative business and that was why he decided to give it full focus in 2018.
On his education, he said:
“Yeah, I wrote about NOUN school program last year, I had to suspend my education at NOUN, due to that I wanted to stay focus and build my brand to a stage that even if I’m away, it will function without me and orders will be delivered. As soon as my prayers are answered and the business get stabilized, I should go back to continue my schooling.”
The young man who lost his dad almost 19 years ago disclosed that he had the opportunity of meeting the Ekiti state governor, Kayode Fayemi, after his post went viral.
With help from kind Nigerians, he was also able to get a befitting grinder to replace the one his mother used for about 13 years. He also completed the building where the pap is made.
On his 22nd birthday, the man was celebrated in Kogi by the state’s deputy governor where he was given an award.
The young businessman said that people sometimes look down on the business because of how messy the work environment could be during production.
Despite everything he has been through, Jimoh has been able to inspire a lot of people to strive hard and create worthy ventures.
When asked about how much he makes from the business, the man revealed that 1kg of the content goes for N800 and he rakes in between N5000 and N10,000 on a weekly basis.
