UBA Grant’s Post Graduate Student Access to Her N1.5m, After Denying Her Access

Cursory: A Nigerian student living abroad had earlier been denied access to her money despite being refunded by UBA. The agitated lady had tried to contact the bank severally to no avail. Fortunately the issue has finally been resolved as she can now easily access her money .

Adenike Okekporo, a postgraduate student residing in the United Kingdom, now has access to her N1.5 million thanks to the United Bank for Africa (UBA).Okekporo revealed to FIJ on Tuesday that the bank had sent the funds to her chosen accounts on Monday.”UBA has finally fixed the problem,” she declared.

“I got my naira and pounds transferred to my chosen accounts. Thank you, FIJ.”

On March 21, FIJ revealed how Okekporo’s access to the N1.5 million that UBA had repaid to her in July 2022 had been blocked.Okekporo described how she tried contacting the bank through a number of different avenues without success.

“On July 23, N1.6 million was withdrawn from my account and after reporting the incident to the bank, a refund was made in two weeks,” Okekporo told FIJ.“After the refund, I realised the account had been frozen and I had been restricted from accessing it.

“I wrote to UBA to request access to the account so I could move the money to a safer account, but they kept dribbling and ignoring me. They would acknowledge my emails but fail to resolve the request.

“All I want is that they send my login so I can move my money from their bank. I have had to subject myself to undue hardship because they won’t allow me to access my money.”The postgraduate student eventually accessed her money two weeks after FIJ’s intervention.
