UDUS Governing Council Appoints New Deputy Vice Chancellor

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto UDUS Governing Council had Appointed New Deputy Vice Chancellor .

The University Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, held its 171 regular meeting on Wednesday, 12th March, 2025 where it approved the appointment of Professor Tukur Adamu as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Development) for an initial term of two (2) years, in accordance with the Universities (Miscellaneous) Provisions Act, 1993 as amended.

Professor Adamu, born on February 2, 1962 is a distinguished professor of Parasitology. He obtained Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Zoology from Ahmadu Bello University (1986 and 1993 respectively) and a Ph.D. in Zoology from Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (1999). He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (2000).

Prof. Adamu joined the services of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto as a Graduate Assistant in 1989 and rose through the ranks and became a professor in 2005. He has held various academic and administrative roles, including Head of Biological Sciences, Deputy Dean, and Director of School of Matriculation Studies. Before his appointment, he was the Chairman of the Management Board of UDUS’s Centre for Open and Distance Education.
