The University of Lagos recently appointed a couple, Peter Olabisi Oluseyi and Temilola Oluseyi as professors on the same day, recognizing their extensive academic achievements and contributions in engineering and chemistry, respectively.


Peter Olabisi Oluseyi and Temilola Oluseyi were recently appointed as full professors by the University of Lagos (UNILAG) governing council on October 11, 2024, joining 80 other academics elevated to professorship.
Temilola was named a professor of chemistry with a focus on analytical and environmental chemistry, while her husband, Peter, was appointed professor of electrical and electronic engineering, specializing in power and energy systems.
Peter began his teaching career at Yaba College of Technology in 2000 and joined UNILAG in 2005, amassing over 20 years of experience in academia, with a strong portfolio of published research and numerous supervised graduate students.
Temilola is a two-time Commonwealth Scholarship recipient, having completed her Ph.D. at Loughborough University and postdoctoral work at the University of Birmingham.
Her research has been supported by various prominent organizations, including the Royal Society of Chemistry and the European Union.
She also holds notable memberships and fellowships, including with the Royal Society of Chemistry, and has held leadership roles, such as President of the Marie Curie Alumni Association’s African Chapter.
The couple’s appointments are retroactive to October 1, 2022.
