Professor Foluso Ebun Afolabi Lesi of the Department of Paediatrics, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Medicine (CMUL) is the newly elected Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development Services) of the University of Lagos (UNILAG).


He was elected via an electronic voting process with 86% votes at the Statutory Meeting of Senate held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
Professor Lesi is a former Provost, College of Medicine, (CMUL) and current Board Chairperson of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
He is an alumnus of the College of Medicine University of Lagos, Nigeria where he obtained his MBBS degree in 1984 and consequently completed his postgraduate training at the same affiliated teaching institution, Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) obtaining the FWACP (Paed.) in 1994. He bagged a Masters degree with Distinction at the University College London in 1997.
Beyond academia, Professor Lesi has gathered relevant administrative experiences over the years, displaying teamwork and innovation. He is a Consultant to many national and international agencies. He has participated and served as a resource person in several national and international conferences, workshops, and training programmes in Europe, North America, and Africa.
A luminary academician, many of Professor Lesi’s mentees occupy notable professional and academic leadership positions .
His appointment, when ratified by the University Governing Council, is for two (2) years and takes effect from Saturday, March 29, 2025.
