A University of Benin graduate shared how she balanced sewing, catering and forex trading alongside her studies, using the income from the businesses to support herself and eventually graduate with a first-class degree.


A talented graduate of the University of Benin, Chetachukwu Mmadudiukor, has shared the touching story of how she overcame financial struggles and academic challenges to graduate with a first-class degree in Industrial Engineering. Her inspiring journey has attracted attention online after she opened up about the sacrifices and determination that helped her achieve success despite the difficulties she faced while in school.
According to her, she had to combine several side hustles with her studies in order to survive and remain financially stable throughout her university education. She explained that she ventured into sewing, catering, private teaching and Forex trading, using the income from those activities to support herself and cover important school expenses. Managing academics alongside multiple businesses was stressful, but she remained committed to her goals.
The graduate disclosed that life was not always smooth for her during her time at the university. Coming from a family facing financial challenges meant she often had to work extra hard to avoid becoming a burden on her parents. She revealed that there were moments she felt tired, overwhelmed and uncertain about the future, especially when academic pressure became intense.
She also recounted one of the most painful moments in her academic journey, revealing that she failed a course during her first year in school. The setback deeply affected her emotionally and made her question her abilities at the time. However, instead of allowing the failure to stop her, she decided to learn from the experience and become more focused on her studies.
With support from mentors, friends and people who believed in her potential, she gradually rebuilt her confidence and improved academically. Her determination, discipline and consistency eventually paid off as she graduated with a first-class degree, a remarkable achievement that reflected years of hard work, sacrifice and perseverance.
Beyond her academic excellence, Chetachukwu also made a strong impact within her faculty, earning recognition as the most influential graduating female student. Her story has continued to inspire many social media users, with people praising her resilience, hardworking spirit and ability to successfully balance business activities with academics while striving for excellence.
