“Graduate Who Returned to Village to Farm Shares Painful Struggles and New Hope”

A young graduate revealed that after failing to secure a job, he returned to his village to become a farmer despite being mocked by his community, but online support later gave him hope to continue.

A Nigerian graduate has gone viral after opening up about the struggles he faced when he returned to his village to become a farmer after failing to secure employment in the city.

In a video shared online, the young man explained that after graduating from the university, he spent months searching for a job without success. According to him, many companies demanded years of work experience, making it difficult for a fresh graduate like him to get employed. With no stable source of income and growing frustration, he decided to return to his hometown in March 2026 and begin farming.

However, his decision was not welcomed by many people in his community. He revealed that several villagers mocked him for going back to farming despite spending years in school. Some people reportedly saw his choice as a disgrace, while others believed a university graduate should not be involved in agriculture.

The graduate admitted that the criticism affected him emotionally and pushed him into depression and uncertainty about his future. He recalled that on April 25, 2026, the pressure became so intense that he started contacting relatives and friends in Lagos and Ogun State in search of any available job opportunity. Unfortunately, even his brother in Lagos could not assist him because he was also battling accommodation problems.

Despite the disappointment, the young man continued working on his farm while struggling internally with fear and frustration. According to him, everything changed after he posted a video about his experiences on Instagram. The encouraging messages and support he received from social media users motivated him to stop hiding and focus fully on building his farming business.

The farmer also shared his dreams of expanding his agricultural project into something much bigger in the future. While showing portions of his farmland in the video, he pointed out that a river runs behind the property and described the farm as the beginning of a new chapter in his life. He proudly stated that he is no longer ashamed of his journey and is determined to succeed through farming.
