Dr. Ikenna Odife, Head of the History and International Studies Department at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), has addressed the recent physical altercation between student Precious Mbakwe and a lecturer, expressing concerns about her psychological well-being.
The incident, which went viral in a video, showed Mbakwe attacking the lecturer after he interrupted her while she was recording a dance video. In response, the university management announced that a committee has been set up to investigate the matter.
Speaking with the university press, Dr. Odife strongly condemned the act, describing it as “inexplicable” and stressing the importance of assessing Mbakwe’s mental and emotional state. He also called for a comprehensive investigation into her background, from childhood to her current status as a university student, to understand any underlying factors contributing to the incident.
