Newly admitted students of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai have been admonished on the need to always dress neatly and decently and to always associate with good companies so as to be successful students.


The Vice Chancellor, Professor Abu Kasim Adamu gave the advice during the 17th Regular Orientation exercise for the newly admitted students held at the University auditorium Lapai.
The Vice Chancellor said the orientation is aimed at educating them on the rules and regulations them guiding their stay in the University.
He added that the Management was doing its best to provide a conducive learning environment to help them attain their goals.
He warned them to stay away from theft, protest, examination malpractice, disruptions, fights, and other vices that can weed them out of the University.
Professor Adamu urged them to pay attention to all the presentations by the various speakers as it would help them succeed.
In his welcome remarks, the Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Musa Salihu Ewugi congratulated the students for passing through rigorous process of seeking for admission, as many applied but few of them were selected and successfully admitted.
Dr. Ewugi explained that the students orientation is a traditional program designed to help uncover the answer to their questions and providing information about campus resources, programs, services and the likes, maintaining that the Student Affairs Deanary has invited respected personalities with vast experience in different life endeavor to speak to them on how to become not only a successful IBBULites, but a good ambassadors of their families and parents.
The Dean urged them to remain focused and determined so that their parents relations would be proud of them.
He also advised the students to make their experience at the University a foundation of great ideas, great discoveries and great innovations, and learn to dream big.
In their separate presentations on morals, Sheik Umar Dada Paiko and Professor Ebenezer Ogungbe underscored the need to achieve academic excellence through moral and Godly life.
The Director, Academic Planning, Dr. Mohammed Aliyu Bello advised on academic excellence and discipline laced with good morals conduct.
Speaking, the Director Medical Services of the University, Dr. Yusuf Ndeji spoke about “Living a Healthy Campus Life”, and the need for students to know their HIV/Aids status and always visit the University Clinic for medical assistance before visiting elsewhere.
“Security tips for Successful University Education” was presented by the Chief Security Officer, Major Abdulkadir Yerima (rtd), who was represented by Malam Danjuma Umar while Professor Ebenezer Ogungbe spelt out the University’s rules and regulations, students rights, privileges and responsibilities. Earlier, Dr. Teenage Ende spoke the knowledge of the campus as it affects locations.
Hajiya Amina Abdullahi of the Students Affairs Division spoke extensively on “Dress Code and Acceptable Conduct” as Professor Aliyu Yahaya Badeggi explained the need for students to understand Course Units system for academic excellence.
Talk on counseling was done by Professor Rosemary Bukoye, while Fitness and Wellness was presented by professor Joseph B. Omonu who emphasized on the need for students to, at least participate in one or two sporting activities so as to keep fit and win laurels for the University during the WAFU or NUGA games.
In a closing remarks, the Deputy Dean Students Affairs, Dr. Maichibi appreciated the University Management for providing all it takes to organize the orientation for fresh students and also to all the resources persons for the educative presentations.
He appreciated Deans and Heads of Department for their contributions and also mobilizing the students to the success of the programme.
He also congratulated the students for a successful orientation.
