Grace Fadugba overcame two denied study-abroad visas, enrolled at the University of Ibadan, and turned rejection into success by graduating with first-class honours in Law.

A young Nigerian woman, Grace Fadugba, has turned repeated disappointment into an inspiring academic triumph after graduating with first-class honours in Law, despite having her study-abroad visa denied twice.
Her journey proves that setbacks do not define the end of a dream but can instead redirect it toward greater success.
Dream Interrupted, Hope Tested
About seven years ago, Grace secured a fully funded international scholarship after excelling in her SAT and TOEFL examinations. Confident and prepared, she applied for a study visa to begin her academic journey abroad.
However, her application was denied. Refusing to give up, she reapplied—only to face another rejection. The double denial left her emotionally drained and deeply discouraged, shaking her confidence and plans for the future.
With the encouragement and support of family and friends, Grace slowly regained her strength and decided to rethink her path rather than abandon her dreams.
A New Path at Home
In 2020, Grace enrolled to study Law at the University of Ibadan, one of Nigeria’s most prestigious institutions. What initially felt like a painful detour soon became a defining turning point in her life.
She committed herself fully to her studies, personal growth, and discipline, determined to make the most of the opportunity she had in Nigeria.

Turning Setback Into Success
Grace’s hard work paid off. In 2025, she graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree with first-class honours, transforming years of disappointment into a remarkable academic achievement.
Sharing her story on LinkedIn, she reflected that studying at UI helped her heal from the pain of her earlier visa rejection. What once felt like a failure eventually became one of the best decisions she had ever made.
