WAEC Result of Girl with High Marks, Except in English, Sparks Online Discussion

A Nigerian girl, Chisom Francisca, sparked online discussions after sharing her WAEC results, which showed excellent grades in most subjects but a D7 in English, prompting concerns and advice from social media users about her academic future.

A young Nigerian girl, Chisom Francisca, has stirred social media with her WAEC results, which showed exceptional grades in most subjects but a disappointing D7 in English. Heartbroken, she turned to Facebook for advice, concerned that her English grade might hinder her dream of studying Banking and Finance.

In her post, Francisca shared a photo of her results, which displayed A1 in Accounting, Economics, Civic Education, and Mathematics, as well as strong marks in other subjects: B3 in Commerce, B2 in Marketing and Government, and C5 in Igbo. Despite her impressive overall performance, the D7 in English left her questioning her academic future, particularly whether she could still pursue her desired course or later switch to Accounting.

The post quickly caught the attention of social media users, who offered a variety of advice and reactions.

Netizens React:

Michael Roland commented, “Your result would have been perfect, but you failed English. It’s over for you.”

Itunuoluwa Adekoya added, “English is very important, but D7 is a no-no.”

Samoa remarked, “There’s a chance, but English spoiled your result.”

Precious Oluwatosin suggested, “Your English is bad. Hope you write NECO.”

Hari Hassy wrote, “Chaiiii. English ruined everything. Consider adding NECO to it.”

Omolade Zaccheus asked, “Can I study Physiology and later switch to Nursing? Please pardon me for asking under your post.”

Sàm Røyal shared, “This happened to me in 2022. My results were good, but English flopped. I had to rewrite WAEC. Consider NECO, especially if you’re aiming for Unilag.”

Sammy Dickson concluded, “No, because you failed one of the most important subjects in WAEC – English.”
