Kind Teacher Pays His Student's Exam Fees Despite His Money Issues, Says She's Well Trained

Cursory: A young man currently doing his National service, Akaahan Ephraim, has paid for one of his student’s WASSCE exam fees despite his being short on cash.

Giving is a very good thing that should be appreciated, but giving when you don’t have it? That qualifies you as a rare breed of human especially if the benefactor is a total stranger.

In the case of the touching story below, the giver is a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Akaahan Ephraim who revealed how a single girl has inadvertently changed his stereotype that all girls are the same.

Ephraim met Esther Timibi, a remarkable girl from Peretorugbene community in Bayelsa state, Nigeria, where he is currently carrying out his one-year compulsory national assignment as part of the NYSC program.

According to Ephraim, Esther, a student in SS2 at Community Secondary School Peretorugbene (CSSP), stands out for her brilliance, respectfulness, obedience, humility, and strong faith in God.

The young man praised Esther’s parents for raising her to be unique and outstanding, because of how beautiful her character and upbringing is, he started looking for ways to reward and motivate Esther.

He checked and his monthly allowance of 33,000 Naira (~$72) provided by NYSC is not sufficient for his basic needs, this led him to wonder if it is wise to take on a responsibility he doesn’t have any guarantee to fulfill. Additionally, his friends and family have made financial requests, and he was who should take priority.

In his words, “After discovering those outstanding qualities, I started brainstorming on how to reward/motivate her while brainstorming, the following questions came up from my mind as follows:

“1. The 33k monthly allowance is not even enough to feed here and I want to start what I can’t finish?

“2. My family and friends have asked for money and I was unable to give them, some have stopped calling and chatting me who is now more important?“

Reflecting on the warm reception and treatment received from the community members, despite being a stranger,he decided to set aside the aforementioned concerns. Ephraim described his place of assignment as a peaceful, friendly, cult-free environment, characterized by understanding and a shared reverence for God.

Determined to support Esther, the young man visited her family and assured them that they need not worry about her WAEC (West African Examinations Council) registration fee, even though at the time he lacked the money to make good on his pledge.

However, Ephraim trusted God and hoped for a miracle. That much-needed miracle came a few days later and he got the complete money to register the WASSCE.

“Having known this, I traced and went to Esther’s home were I met with her family and told them not to bother for her WAEC payment even as I was having no money at the moment but trusted God. few days after my promise, my God of miracles and wonders fulfilled my heart desire and provided the needed amount,” he added.

The NYSC member has proudly announced that Esther’s WAEC exam has been fully registered. He went on to encourage students, including those from other schools, to emulate Esther’s exemplary lifestyle, emphasizing the rewards of being good.

“Today, I’m proud to say her WAEC EXAM is fully registered by me with the little I have.I therefore, encourage and task her fellow students and any other student from any school to emulate her lifestyle because it pays to be good.

“‘God I thank you for making it come to pass(Gratitude is my attitude).& I pray may God in his infinite mercy continue to protect, direct and guide ESTHER till her destiny helper locate her IJN AMEN.”
