The Vice-Chancellor of Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Okitipupa, Nigeria, Prof. Temi Ologunorisa, has emphasized that the well-being and advancement of students and faculty members of the University are the primary focus of his administration for a secure and prosperous future.


During the 14th Freshers’ Orientation programme, for the 2024/2025 academic year, held at the Main Campus on Wednesday, 15th January 2025, the Vice-Chancellor congratulated the new students and assured them that they have made a commendable decision by choosing OAUSTECH.
Prof. Ologunorisa pledged to equip the students with essential 21st-century skills such as effective communication, critical thinking, time management, problem-solving, interview techniques, and digital literacy to empower them to excel and thrive in today’s competitive world.
Addressing the freshmen at the event, Prof. Ologunorisa highlighted the presence of distinguished scholars and professors at OAUSTECH who will engage with the students to inspire their academic and career achievements.
He urged the students to familiarize themselves with the University’s regulations, focus on their academic pursuits, and emphasized that those who achieve first-class honours will have opportunities for admission to prestigious universities in the United States and worldwide for postgraduate studies.
The Vice-Chancellor underscored OAUSTECH’s partnerships with renowned universities globally, citing examples of graduates who attained first-class honours and were directly admitted to Ph.D. programmes in leading U.S. institutions.
He emphasized the University’s exceptional research facilities, including the world-class Central Research Laboratory and digitized library with 24-hour internet access.
Prof. Ologunorisa unequivocally stated OAUSTECH’s zero-tolerance policy towards cultism, academic misconduct, unruly behaviour, indecency, and any form of harassment. He encouraged students to report any challenges or grievances, assuring them of a transparent and responsive administration.
Assuring the students of a stable academic calendar to facilitate timely completion of their studies, the Vice-Chancellor promised that key student welfare issues like sports facilities and on-campus accommodation are top priorities for the coming year. He announced the imminent availability of two new hostels on campus, funded by Tetfund and the Owotuga Foundation.
In conclusion, Prof. Ologunorisa announced that the General Studies programme would adopt a hybrid approach, combining face-to-face and online learning to reduce overcrowding in classrooms. He urged students to acquire laptops, aligning with his administration’s vision of providing each student with a personal device.
In his remarks, the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Daniel Adekeye, commended the students for choosing OAUSTECH, emphasizing the University’s commitment to fostering excellence and a supportive environment. He called for students’ cooperation in upholding the University’s rules and regulations to maintain a peaceful atmosphere conducive to learning.
