Bayero University Kano awarded first-class degrees to 176 graduates during its 39th convocation, where a total of 4,402 students received various degrees and diplomas, and honorary doctorates were conferred on Sani Bello and Auwalu Rano for their contributions to education and humanitarian efforts.


Bayero University Kano (BUK) has awarded first-class degrees to 176 graduates across various faculties during its 39th convocation ceremonies.
Speaking at a pre-convocation press briefing, the university’s vice chancellor, Sagir Abbas, announced that 275 PhD students, 2,590 master’s degree recipients, and 535 postgraduate diploma holders were also among the 4,402 graduates receiving degrees, diplomas, and certificates during the week-long event.
In addition to the academic awards, BUK conferred honorary doctorate degrees on Sani Bello, a former military administrator of Kano State, and Auwalu Rano, a businessman, in recognition of their contributions to education and humanitarian efforts.
Mr. Abbas highlighted Mr. Bello’s role in establishing Kano’s colleges of sciences, which have produced thousands of successful graduates, as well as his administration’s approval of the development of BUK’s new campus.
The convocation ceremony was attended by Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and the Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Uche Nnaji, who chaired the convocation lecture.
